Originally from NC, Dr. Cortes married his high school sweet heart. After circling the US for his training—they finally moved back to Charlotte with their two sons and many pets. Dr. Cortes enjoys golf, mountain biking, PC building, and swimming.
On a professional level Dr. Cortes has been involved with various implant development projects. He designed a pericardial stent in his surgical residency and is currently a trial veterinarian for new stent products. Dr. Cortes has certifications for various advanced implant systems including Biomedtrix Universal Total Hip, Biomedtrix Micro Total Hip, and Kyon Patella Groove replacement. He enjoys difficult and complex orthopedic procedures and has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures. During residency his research focused on methods of reducing cartilage damage during minimally invasive arthroscopy procedures.
