Bio

Dr. Jenifer Gold graduated from a dual program at Washington State University/Oregon State University in 2002. She completed a rotating internship in equine medicine and surgery at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in 2003. She then completed a 3-year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell University, becoming a Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2007.

Dr. Gold worked in private practice for 2 years before taking a clinical assistant professor position at Texas A & M University Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. During that time at Texas A & M she completed a 2-year fellowship in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.

She became a Diplomate American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care-Large Animal in 2013. She worked as 6-month locum at the Dubai Equine Hospital in Dubai UAE from November 2011-2012. She then worked at Colorado State University from 2013-2014. She worked at Chaparral Equine Hospital in 2014 until she took a job at Washington State University from 2015-2022. She won the Zoetis Distinguishing Teaching Award at WSU in 2017 and 2022 and the Clinical Faculty teaching award (equine) for the 7 years she was at WSU. She left WSU to become an associate at Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital in 2022.

Dr. Gold’s areas of interest are neonatology/sepsis, respiratory physiology/exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage and pain management in the horse. She has done research in all the areas listed above.

She loves to help horses in all aspects of critical care and internal medicine. In her off time, she loves spending time in the wilderness fishing hiking, and hunting with her husband 2 Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons and a cat.
